TAG’s Inter-school Competition of Dance on Konkani Songs

A. J. de Almeida High School & KBM’s Vidyabhuvan Konkani Shalla bags the 1^st places at TAG’s Inter-school Competition of Dance on Konkani Songs on Patriotism/National Integration/Communal Harmony

In order to inculcate values of patriotism/national integration/communal harmony in our children, every year Tiatr Academy of Goa has been organizing an Inter-school Competition of Dance on the recorded Konkani Songs on Patriotism/National Integration/Communal Harmony. This year the competition was held in collaboration with Institute Menezes Braganza in two categories i.e (1) Std. I - IV (primary) and (2) Std. V - X (secondary) on Tuesday, 18^th August 2014 at the Institute Menezes Braganza auditorium, Panaji.

In all 21 schools participated in the competition. The competition was judged by well-known dance choreographers Snaden Shawn and Bhakti Gadiyar. Along with cash prizes and mementos, certificates were also awarded to the winners at the hands of Prince Jacob, President of TAG, Vice President Joe Rose and Member Secretary Jose Alexandre Rodrigues at a function held soon after the competition.

TAG President, Prince Jacob welcomed and congratulated all the students for their performance. While addressing them, he said that in the competition, everyone cannot win; hence one should not get discouraged, because failures are the stepping stones to success. He further said “even at the beginning of my career I tasted failures and through that I achieved success and reached where I am today”.  The jury members Snaden and Bhakti, who both are training children in their respective dance academies shared their similar experiences with the participants and gave them some important tips on dancing and choreography. Vice-President, Joe Rose gave the vote of thanks. The function was co-ordinated and compered by Jess Luz, Junior Cultural Assistant of TAG.

The following are the winners:

In Std. I - IV Category

1^st Prize           :  Konkani Bhasha Mandal’s Vidyabhuvan Konkani Shalla, Margao (Cash Prize – Rs. 4000/- plus memento and certificate).

2^nd Prize          : St. Michael’s Convent High School, Anjuna (Cash Prize – Rs. 3000/- plus memento and certificate).

3rd Prize         : Mount Litera Zee School Goa, Zuari Nagar (Cash Prize – Rs. 2000/- plus memento and certificate).

                                                           

In Std. V - X Category

1^st Prize           :  A. J. de Almeida High School, Ponda (Cash Prize – Rs. 7000/- plus memento and certificate).

2^nd Prize          : Konkani Bhasha Mandal’s Ravindra Kelekar Dnyanmandir, Margao (Cash Prize – Rs. 5000/- plus memento and certificate).

3^rd Prize           : Jesus and Mary Sarvajanik High School, Carambolim (Cash Prize – Rs. 3000/- plus memento and certificate).

Best Choreographer  : Derrick D’Souza, A. J. de Almeida High School, Ponda (Cash Prize – Rs. 2000/- plus memento and certificate).
