Children Tiatr Festival 2015


Entries are invited for TAG’s 6th Children’s Tiatr Festival
Every year Tiatr Academy of Goa is organising Children’s Tiatr Festival in order to inculcate Tiatr culture among the children. The purpose of this festival is to involve children of the age of less than 18 years in the production and staging of Tiatrs.

This year 6th Children Festival is scheduled to be held from 26th November 2015 to 23rd December 2015 at Gomant Vidhya Niketan - Margao, daily at 3.30 pm.
Applications are invited from Educational Institutions/Sports & Cultural Associations/Individual Producers for participation in the festival provided the age of the participants is less than 18 years. Tiatr Academy Goa  will give a financial support of Rs. 30,000/- to produce the Tiatr. This financial assistance of the TAG is to meet the expenditure incurred by them towards Live Band, Light Effects, Stage Setting, Background Music, Make up, Costumes, Refreshments for rehearsals, Transport, etc.


In all 15 Educational Institutions/Sports & Cultural Associations/Individual Producers will be given an opportunity to participate in the production and staging of Tiatr. In case TAG receives more than 15 applications a meeting of all the applicants will be called and the selection of 15 troupes will be done by lots. The first three award winners of the last year’s Children Tiatr Festival will get a direct entry into this festival, provided their entries are received before due date.
Themes of Tiatr should be based on the lives of children only. The scripts having no relevance to children’s lives will not be considered.

All the interested Educational Institutions/Sports & Cultural Associations/Individual Producers are requested to collect the Entry Form along with Rules and Regulations from the office of Tiatr Academy of Goa, AS-1, 2nd Floor, Campal Trade Centre, Campal, Panaji Goa. The last date of submission of duly filled Entry Form in the prescribed format is 23rd October 2015.

Socorro de St. Cruz enthralls the audience

A well-known singer and tiatr personality, Socorro de St. Cruz enthralled the audience with his beautiful voice at TAG’s monthly programme ‘Meet the Artiste’ held on 23rd September 2015 at the Conference Hall of Tiatr Academy of Goa, Campal, Panaji Goa.

Shri. Agostinho Temudo, President of TAG welcomed Socorro, the artiste of the month and the audience.

Socorro de St. Cruz spoke about his life journey in the tiatr field for the last 33 years as a singer, actor, composer, lyricist and director. His sweet and melodious voice captured the hearts of his fans and the audience who had gathered in large numbers.

He started his career on the tiatr stage at a very young age and his idol was Alfred Rose. In his speech he told the audience that it was his dream to sing with Alfred Rose which has been fulfilled when he sang a trio along with Alfred Rose and Aniceto. He recalled that Alfred Rose congratulated him for writing that trio. In all he wrote around 700 Konkani songs on different issues in his career and has to his credit around 23 audio albums and 8 VCDs.

Meet Socorro de St. Cruz at TAG’s ‘Meet the Tiatr Artiste’ on 23rd September

Every month Tiatr Academy of Goa invites artistes of repute to interact with their fans/followers and other tiatr loving people. Such a meeting helps the audience to know more in detail about the artiste. It also helps TAG to create documentation for its library in order to preserve it for posterity.

A well-known singer and tiatr personality, Socorro de St. Cruz will be the artiste of the month at Tiatr Academy’s monthly programme ‘Meet the Artiste’ to be held on Wednesday, 23rd September 2015 at 4.00 p.m., at the Conference Hall, Tiatr Academy of Goa, AS-1, 2nd Floor, Campal Trade Centre, Campal, Panaji Goa.

TAG to remember artistes of yesteryears.

Every month Tiatr Academy of Goa organises a special programme, “Somplolea Tiatristancho Ugddas” to remember the late Tiatr artistes and their contribution in the field of tiatr who were born in a particular month and are no more with us today. The artistes born in the month of September and are not living who will be remembered are:
1.      Khada Minguel
Hailing from Durga - Chinchinnim, Khada Minguel was a renowned Mestri. In those days, no other Mestri was as popular as Khadda Minguel. He spread Fell/Khell not only in Salcete but all over Goa. He was rightly called as ‘Khellancho Raza’.

2.      Seby Coutinho
Seby Coutinho was a very talented and a versatile actor, one who studied his roles thoroughly and brought out the exact nature of his character especially in tragic roles. His best roles, as judged by the people were in ‘Khorkhos Ostori’,‘Angounnechi Okol’‘Vavraddi’‘Atam Konn Ghatki’ and ‘Barabas’.

3.      Philomena Braz
Philomena Braz was a fine character actress and a singer. Philomena was first seen on the Konkani stage in Alfred Rose’s‘Zotkari Dorji’ in 1963. She acted in Tiatrs of many directors including Saib Rocha, J.P.Souzalin, Kid Boxer, Prem Kumar, Jacinto Vaz, C. Alvares, Dod de Verna, Nelson Afonso, Kamat de Assolna, etc.

A few days after the Tiatr workshop a programme by the Konkanim Section of Chowgule College held Surjanutsov programme for 7 days. Prize distribution was held on the last day where Mr. William Fernandes was the Chief Guest. He gave away the prizes and the certificates to the winners. Principal of Chowgule College Mr. Sawant also attended the function. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr.Gunaji Dessai who is the head of Konkani Faculty alongwith Prof. Hanumant Chopdekar.

Tiatr Workshop held at Shiroda

Michael Gracias conducted Tiatr Workshop.

A tiatr workshop was conducted at Shiroda under the guidance of Kala Academy Alumni Mr. Michael Gracias. The workshop was conducted for 7 days with all aspects of staging a Tiatr. In all 55 students participated in the workshop.



The inauguration of the workshop was done by the outgoing President of Tiatr Academy of Goa Prince Jacob along with the Parish Priest of Church of Shiroda.


The concluding function was held with the performance of the attended girls and boys of Shiroda. The Chief Guest Mr. William Fernandes who is also the Council member of the Tiatr Academy who presented the certificates to the Participants. The Member Secretary of Tiatr Academy Mr. Alexander  and Mr Jess Luiz Programme Co-ordinator were also present for the occasion.  

The Tiatr Workshop was organised by Cruz from Shiroda who is also the Council Member of the TAG. The workshop was supported by Tiatr Academy of Goa.

COMEDIAN AGOSTINHO - THE NEW CHIEF OF TIATR ACADEMY

Comedian Agostinho has been nominated as the new President of Tiatr Academy of Goa. Along with him there are ten members who have been nominated to the Council. Prince Jacob is the outgoing President who has been at the helm of Tiatr Academy for the last three years along with Joe Rose who was the Vice President. Wishing Agostinho all the best and hope more better days will come at Tiatr Academy.
